Where to begin??

On Wednesday, April 9th, an ultrasound showed that Elijah's stomach and esophagus were not connected. This is a condition known as Tracheoesophageal Fistula (TEF) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracheoesophageal_fistula. Of course, it is very troubling anytime something like this is mentioned, especially with a child not born yet. However, there is also a two-vessel umbilical cord, which causes concern for a genetic abnormality. Again, this increases the concern. Because of the lack of connection, he cannot process the amniotic fluid. This will cause it to remain inside of Tammy's body and cause her uterus to become larger. At some point, she will have to have some of that fluid removed via an amniocentesis. There is also a greater risk for premature labor. The doctor feels that 32 weeks is a good target at this point.

So far, his weight and size are right on target. No other issues have shown on the scans at this time. Tammy is continuing to have contractions on a daily basis and is very limited on what she can do.

Of course, our prayer is for a miracle. We believe God can heal this and cause the esophagus and stomach to connect even at this point. However, we realize this may not happen. We know he is not surprised by this and is in full control. He knew this would happen long before the foundation of the world. Just as God told Jeremiah, we know he formed this child in the womb. He knows Elijah more intimately than we could ever imagine and He did not make a mistake when forming this child. We have to trust him and know He has a master plan.

Thanks to all who are concerned and are praying for us and this child. Please continue to remember us!!

Our prayer requests: A miracle of healing, strength, patience to wait on His timing, comfort only He can provide, peace that passes all understanding, Tammy's contractions to subside, full-term pregnancy, no other genetic issues or abnormalities.

God Bless,
Ryan

Ryan, Tammy, Matthew, Andrew, and Elijah, we are very concerned for you, and we want to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers daily. We want to remind you that God is the master healer and can provide a miracle for you the same way he did for our family. In this time of trial we look at Tyler and are reminded that God is great!!! Keep your faith strong and allow God to provide you peace on those days when you feel as though you can not go on. We are here if you need us. God can heal Elijah as he continues to grow within the uterus and we are going to claim his healing. Remember God is the master healer. Tammy remain strong it all will be worth it in the end. We believe God will allow you to have a full term delivery with a healthy baby boy, keep your faith strong.
Love, Chris, Missy, and Tyler.

I am praying for Elijah's safe birth and that there will be no serious medical conditions. My son was born at 6 1/2 months. He is now a healthy 31 year old man. God does work miracles!!!!
