Surgery is complete!!!

Elijah's surgery is complete. They finished around 1pm. The feeding tube was inserted, which will allow him to be fed milk. His liver was a little large, but nothing seemed to be worrysome at this point. He did have a small stomach, but his esophagus was not connected to it. He currently has a breathing tube, which he will slowly be weaned off over the next couple of days. All in all, he did very well.

The plan at this point is to get him used to the feeding tube and get him settled to come home. At this point, we are not sure when that will be. He will begin taking the milk and grow. Sometime in the future he will likely have surgery to repair the hole in his septum between his ventricles. They don't want to do that too soon, but will allow him to grow and allow that to close up if possible. He will then recover from that and at some point later have the surgery on his esophagus. So we are looking at several tests and surgeries over the next several months. But we are truly grateful for what God has done and that he is not any more sick than he is now. Things could be much worse.

He is in great hands with the doctors and nurses here at the Children's Hospital. This is such a wonderful place. God has truly gifted these people.

Thanks to all who are keeping up and praying.....

Hello---
A friend shared Elijah's page with me. I am a mom of a son with type A (pure) EA. I certainly believe in God and will be honored to pray for your son. My faith is truly what got me through all that we went through with Noah. His page is here if you would like to read his story:

I hope that it will be an encouragement to you. I am happy to hear that you are going to Minnesota. It is an amazing hospital and they know just want to do with EA babies!
If you have not found the EA/TEF website and forum, it is here:

My prayers are with you and please know I am here if you need to talk...I understand!
