Thursday 8-14

Elijah is having pressure support trials to strengthen his lungs for possible extibation tommorrow or the next day. He was just not strong enough the first time and was a little too sedated. Today he has been taken off of the Versed (one of the "dont remember anything" meds) and he has begun a med to help with withdrawal. we had a rough night last night with withdrawal symptoms and was really hard to watch. He had tremors, his heartrate increased and he screamed (through the tube...which is silent but he was mad). All of these are things he may go through as he withdraws from the pain meds. I think that was the hardest part to see so far. However, I know God has this situation under control but last night was the first time I doubted our decision to have this surgery. But as of today that thought is gone...I know this was best.
Please pray for my parents and Matthew as they travel back to Kentucky tommorrow so Matthew can go to school. We are struggling with it and I am sure he is as well. Another esophagram will be done next Tuesday to see if the leak has healed and if not we wait another week. Thanks for your prayers.

Hope to see you before winter (especially in Minnnesota),

Hi, I am finally home and was able to read your blog for the first time. I didn't know you were writing this, but I am so glad you did. Also, the old english teacher in me is so proud of both of your writing abilities and the gift you have for so clearly expressing yourselves and your beliefs. Reading this blog reminded me of the adventure you all have had this year and how well you have handled it. You make me so proud to see the wonderful adults you have become. Bubba and I love you all so much. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

I hope my first post only appeared one time. I had to register and then sign up for google and etc.
Cameron had her 1st birthday party today. She is teething and was somewhat cranky until she slept through most of the party. She got a little stroller to push her doll in and instead she keeps trying to climb in it and ride. She ends up in some veeeery interesting positions. She pulls out the doll and throws it in the floor. So many things to learn!!!
We haven't called you because we kept up with things through Granny. But know we are here if you need anything and you are always in our prayers. We love you.
